In addition to the free merit scholarships listed above we have also been able to locate some harder merit based scholarships for high school seniors. This means that the scholarships listed below in this section will be a bit harder to obtain than the scholarships listed above due to the fact that they will require you to have a certain GPA and probably be in the top five percent of your graduating class. So, if you are interested in learning about these types of scholarships take a look at the list we have compiled below:

Bridgewater Merit Award- You can come to think of this as the ultimate merit based scholarship. Bridgewater College is offering a scholarship between $11,000 to a full time tuition based on the applicants performance in high school. Things like class rank, extra curricular activities and overall GPA will be taken into account. You will need to have completed the SAT and ACT and include those scores within your application. Remember, this is a grant for all incoming college freshman so if you are already in college you cannot apply for this grant.

Furman University Scholarships- Furman university offers a number of scholarships that will range from $1,000 to $2,000 based on the applicants need. You need to be a national merit finalist to apply for this grant. If you take a closer look at the link we have provided you will notice that there are many different scholarships that Furman University is offering on a field of study basis. So, make sure you take a look at that and see if the field you are interested in majoring in is offering a scholarship.
